New Project from San Francisco
Wow!!! I really love this forum. I just found it and am 90% done with my Comet. Started out blue and now it's white.
I still have to add the blue Shelby stripes. I am going to read about other members' projects then get started on the stripes.
Here are two quick before and after shots:

Marc,
When you stripped the old paint off, did you sand it off or paint stripper?
Thanks,
Bob

Bob-
I used 100, then 180, then 400 grit sandpaper but no stripper. I wanted the surface to be smooth, but to have some of the old paint left on to act as filler/primer. However the hood was so badly weathered that I sanded it down mostly to bare metal.

Re: New Project from San Francisco
For the small hole in the passenger side front fender, I used bondo in the 1 inch hole. For the other areas with holes larger than 1 inch, I used sheet metal from the hardware sore, 3M panel bonding adhesive, then bondo filler. I have lots of pics on my website at:

Re: New Project from San Francisco
JB Weld is a good filler too. Use duct tape as a backing (on the underside of the hole, after you clean the rust) and them mix up some JB Weld, and fill it in the front. After I sanded my liquid patches down after they hardened, I then went behind the patch, removed the duct tape, and spread a little jb weld on the backside as well, to keep the patch anchored to both sides.
Cheap. Effective, and it takes primer and paint really well.

I have used JB on small holes in tight areas where I couldn't get in to weld. Great stuff, sands easy, doesn't shrink.
