First Car Show and First Win!!
HI all! Just wanted to let you know that we just got back from our very first car show and we took home a trophy! We won in People's Choice out of the Top 30 cars. Never ever thought a rolled on paint job would take home a trophy and we got a lot of compliments. We only told a handful of people that the paint was rolled on and no one believed us.

Congrates......this proves my point that you don't have to spend a bazzilion dollars to have a super clean car. Your car is not going to become a "trailer queen" is it
You should display a photo album showing the roller technique. These car show freaks that need to spend 10G's on a paint job would have a melt down

Re: First Car Show and First Win!!
This car is FAR from being a trailer queen and will NEVER be a trailer queen. Cars should be driven and admired, not stored in a garage or trailer. These cars were built to last and that some are still driving on the roads makes us so happy.

I couldn't agree with you more. I drive my 63 as a daily driver to work everyday. I get a lot of funny looks in the morning but like you said they are ment to be driven.

Re: First Car Show and First Win!!
Those flames were "rolled on" too!
Husband made a template, cut it out, taped it to the car, rolled on the paint. Didn't thin it down at all, just straight rustoleum. He did out line them with pinstriping tape for that finishing touch. Also - he painted the rims red to tie in the flames. Rolled on as well.
Amazing what you can do with a roller and paint!

Re: First Car Show and First Win!!
You don't have to settle for a single color or two tone when rolling. Break out the tape and go for it......or get a book on faux painting. That is made to order for this kind of painting. The m.s. will take the place of the glaze. Or look at some of the guys that use a brush. Your car can be the same as a canvas (the guy with the "happy little trees" comes to mind here).
