Questions on rolling

Post by Seann on April 4th 2012, 3:44 am

Hey Guys im new here the names Sean, im from Lynnwood WA. I been looking into roll on paint for a while now and i only here great results. I just pulled in a 88 rx7, Its in definent need of paint and bodywork.

Just a few questions on rolling..

So when i mix the paint i use half rustoleums mix and half Mineral spirits, correct? Mineral spirits is just to thin the paint right? or is it also a protective weather coating or something? If it isnt is there something i can mix in with the paint for weather protection? What would be the best mix?

Paint hard to reach areas, Example: the bumper and my mirrors have arrow dynamic holes in them, How would i go about getting that painted and also wetsanding and buffing?

Wetsanding, Can i use an electric sander? or is there a harbor freight sander i can buy thats meant for wetsanding?

When i get to the final coats like 12 coats i would wetsand then paint and then buff and wax? How would i do that.

Newbie here Thanks guys.

Half and half is right and that doesn't any more protection because that is the metal protection.
Spray cans will be your best friends for hard to reach places.
I really don't think wet sanding and electricity play well together, sorry.
You buff with your hand with buffing compound if you want to but most smart people will use a buffing machine/electric orbital sander that has variable speeds.

Cool thanks.

I just picked up a Stud Welder kit for the body work that needs to be done.
Also got a 2 3/4th" Straight line air sand and also a Wet sander. A Gallon of bondo too. Just need some auto body hammers, i heard they were very useful..

How do you think rolling on candy apple red would turn out?
