Helllooooo People! Boce Doce here...

Post by Bocephus on January 4th 2008, 10:30 pm

Just found this site searching through another site. found some really useful information here, and I realized well why not join? Anyways I cannot wait to sift through the vast amount of knowledge archived here and hopefully I will be posting up some pics of my future project...My Beater and soon-to-be daily driver Civic. (After I of course roll it on.)

The paint job on it is sooo oxydized and bad, that people would point and burst out to laughter.

I have been to Maaco before and got the cheapest paintjob and I think some of the pics I have seen here. Have had far better results.

Anyway...I will stop talking and can't wait to learn and start my own project up. (My target date is around February when I take my vacation from work)

I will have about 2 weeks off.

So I would like to know if anybody here has done it in two weeks:

bodywork needed are listed:

dented fender - bondo it up or buy a new fender
rear bumper - buying a new one as we speak, the one i have has a slight 1-inch tear. And I hate that.
Top of the roof- also has a slight minor indentation. Nothing crazy. The fender is the worst.

Other than that it's mostly a sanding process from all the stupid emblems the past owner put.

Oh and I plan on shaving all the emblem holes and hood squirters too.

Anyways any time frame breakdown? Or a sticky to read? (Well I will check after I hit the send button on this thread)

Thanks for reading and taking the time, or if not it's ok, not a problem

welcome to the site. I did my truck in about 2 weeks but that was a few hours after work each day. All together I say you can have it done in probably 4-5 days including the buffing and cure times. Good luck with the project and make sure to keep us posted!

Awesome. Yeah I was just checking out your thread Matt. I noticed there was this thing laid out on the bottom of your garage to prevent the paint from dripping onto the cement. Little things like paint on floor is what I want to expect when doing this project.

And btw the more and more I look at that yellow paint, the better it looks. But I will for sure just do a roll of boring ol' black.

Howdy Boce Doce,
I did my Storm in 10 days. No body work, just a day of removing stuff, taping, and sanding. I was in no rush so i didn't push the time. First day was just prep, One coat a day for 7 days, and 2 days of finish sand, buff and reassembly.

Our next project will need some minor body work and dings removed and I think we can do it in about 2 weeks if we apply ourself. Smile

Just keep in mind that the more work/time you have in your preparation, the more it reflects in the end result.

Rick - yeah you did that all in 10 days. Well it looks awesome from the pics as far as I can tell. I will try to do it just like you guys.

Matt- ok awesome! I will def gather up the supplies and making a mental image of how I am going to tackle this situation... I just can't wait until I get my vacation so I can start.

this weekend I am gathering up the supplies. I have been itching to just try it out on the hood. or at least start the body work over the weekend.

I will definitely try and make this project as great as you guys did on yours.

See ya Smile

Bummer, that sucks. Hope they didn't destroy anything like the door or dash. It's bad enough when things disapear, it really sucks when they destroy stuff to get what they are after.

man oh man, ive had mine broken into 3 times. the 3rd time was stolen and it was found about 5 days later out of gas. Welll i then decided to purchase new lock cylinders for the door and re-key them from a locksmith that I knew. He had to remove and install the ignition but the door ones were very easy to remove and replace.

94 hatchback. man believe me Its on of the worst feelings in the world.

my car took 4 weeks and its still not totally buffed just depends where you live and how much time you have. it took me 4-5 days to do all bondo work and sand down car, primer bondo ect. and then it took me 12 days to paint the car 1 paint a day because i had school and weather was 32-40 degrees and now about a week to sand down and buff out. my things i should of fixed would be the 10 or so little tiny dents in doors i dident see lol my fault what ever its a honda! and then i would probobly remove all my moldings around windows atenna and all locks and stuff i removed most of them but forgot about rear lock in hatch and atenna tell about half way through so they only got 3 coats-4 coats of paint on them and then when i wetsanded it went through the paint.
