New member from Wisconsin

Post by HMCFab9 on April 9th 2013, 2:05 am

Hi. Just found this forum from the Garage Journal forum from a post about what kind of paint to use. I have worked in a bodyshop / restoration shop for 20+ years, but with the cost of name brand automotive grade paints... i'm looking for less expensive alternatives for painting my personal work beater. I'm hoping to roll it on to save masking time & overspray problems on everything else.

Thanks for the welcomes! I've done auto restoration for almost 25 years & I've worked on everything from multimillion dollar Ferrari's, Maserati's & Lamborghini's to Corvette's, street rods, muscle cars, etc. We did a Ferrari for Frank Beard from ZZ Top years ago & did a couple magazine / multiple award winning cars for other bigshots. I'm right in the middle of a complete restoration on an all original California (no rust... I live in the "rust belt") car '69 Camaro. I'm also trying to do a quickie paint on my DD truck. It's old with a lot of miles, but I like it & hate to get rid of it. I just want to make it look a little nicer for a couple years. (the silver paint is peeling & looks like crap). I'm looking forward to reading more on this forum & learn some tricks to make it easier & cheaper. (the $700 per gallon paint Isn't going on my truck, being kinda old. lol)
