Metallics

Post by rocco on January 6th 2008, 11:15 pm

Hi,
If one is using a metallic paint, will it level out nice? Not like aluminum rustoleum, plasti-kote has this

I wonder if it would come out glossy? I'd try it, but I can only find it by the gallon for 30 bucks. It looks almost identical to the silver on my rocco (there was some on a card, but it was laminated, so I couldn't see if it was glossy or not).

I've never used it. See if the guy behind the counter will pour you some in a little container to sample. Either that or buy it and sample it on something. If you don't like it take it back. Most places will return non-tinted paints.

I mixed rustoleum aluminum paint with my base color and I think it turned out pretty good. I have not tried it on another project yet but I do plan on it.

Forest green 1 gal
Small can of aluminum
enough black to get the color right

It was over a year ago now and it was a dump and mix method so I really don't have anything for measurements.

I did it because everything I read said that it couldn't be done.
