02 Mondeo tdci satin black

Post by taffy25 on June 27th 2013, 12:19 pm

Hey all im currently rolling satin black rusto on my mondeo and cannot get it to lay without seeing track marks from the roller its impossible to get it even anyone had any luck with a roller?

I painted my astro van and a clio gloss black my capri red (turned out orange tho think they sent safety orange in a red can since it matches perfectly) and they all turned out great so its not my technique but i cant get this down gonna spray it unless anyone has any ideas.

Cheers in advance.

Heres how it stands at the moment.

I know of no way to make it work with just rolling. I have seen it done but they rolled, wet sanded, repeat, just like normal, then sprayed the last coat.

Mondeo, eh? I had a 96 Mondeo that I sold to my middle son when he started college. We couldn't kill the thing! Probably good, since parts are hard to get in Georgia.

I didn't think they sold those here in the states. What we had were the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique.

I know we didn't get any turbo diesels...

Correct. I bought mine from a guy in Atlanta; no telling where he got it or how he got it registered and titled. It had a U.S. spec Contour drivetrain and was titled as a Contour. But all the badges said Mondeo. Loved that car!

Your missing out these diesels are great stock they put out 130bhp and 245 ftlb and extra 34 ftlb on top with transient over boost, mine should be around 200 and 300ftlbs at the moment and still gives 55+ mpg at 70 mph. That said I envy your old school muscle, our oldies rot to death over here quick sharp.

Yikes! Here in the South you don't see rusty cars like that. Unless they came from Florida or up north. Exception: International trucks or Chevettes. They were made from stamped rust.

I agree about the diesels.

I had problems with runs and had to turn the paint delivery on the gun right down but it also made the fan/spray pattern smaller which was a pain in the rear, with a 1.5 would I have been able to keep the delivery turned up more keeping a decent width pattern without too much paint?

First time I used a proper gun so didn have much of a clue to be honest.
