Sander/Polisher???

Post by cyberized on February 6th 2008, 8:54 pm

I would LOVE to be able to afford a Porter Cable 7424 + ALL the bonnets etc......BUT....being a Senior on limited income, I DOUBT it. I have been trying to
check out all the options using the NET - trying to find something that would fill the shoes of a safe Sander and Polisher in one - and save some money by not having to buy
two separate tools. One that I have read about is the BOSCH's 5" Sander & Polisher.........a round random orbital 5" to 6" might be ideal for me [easier to use - especially being one
handed]. I could afford the Chicago 7" Polisher BUT it is not orbital and am afraid might burn my paint....IF not....I could get a separate smaller sander too.
Anyone here have any recommendations on which way to go to solve this dilemna? I have an old rectangular jitterbug sander - BUT - for this paint job I would sure like a round or
square small model.

I have a 6in sander/polisher I got from harbor freight FOR $29.00 on sale. It is the yellow one and it has a veraible speed adjustment. It is a two handed tool tho. I know they have a very good selection of sanders. Speed and pressure is what burns paint. Coarse compound is what eats through the paint fast so be careful.
