cleaning door jambs

Post by megaglow_z on February 18th 2008, 12:28 am

Ok this little yota i have is very nasty.
Whats the best way to clean the door jambs off?
Do i need to wipe them off with mineral spirits before i paint them?
I'm thinking a pressure washer and hot water for all the old crap that's in there.but can i just paint the jambs after cleaning or will i have to rough it up first?
Or should i just yank the doors off...lol
I'm taking the bed off anyway so i can paint the cab/bed area you cant reach.
maybe pressure wash, scrub brush and comet, then dry and paint?????

Door jambs get pretty ugly. I washed with water and soap, then used a grease remover, then more water and soap, then some more degreaser, then more water and soap, then finally rinse with water than meneral spirits just before painting. Oh yeah, I used lots of rags too, it was really dirty.

Simple green to start, then mineral spirits is the way I am approaching my hatch area and door jars.
