fiberglass

Ok,I am deleting the side marker lights on the Toyota.
Where the light was, there is a inset square area the size of the marker light "about a dollar bill" with about a quarter sized hole in the middle of it.
I sanded it all down to metal, and applied 3 layers of fiberglass, one on in the inside of the fender, and 2 outside in the depression, waiting 5 hrs between layers.
how long should i let that set before finishing it off with a skin of bondo and prime??
basicly i did the same thing you do if you have a rust hole.i made it into a slight "dent" with the fiberglass, then I finish with bondo.
I have used this method before, but i was not in a hurry and it was 2 months before i got to the bondo work.

got heat on it? i would say a week or so. why not just weld a patch in there? if ya took your time you wouldnt need glass or filler at all.

I have never fiberglassed anything, but I have some body work to do on my truck that I might attack some day. Let us know how it works out.
