HVLP spray guns

Post by retired plumber on April 27th 2008, 12:11 pm

If you are looking for a HVLP spray gun, make sure your compressor will supply enough air to run it. They take an amazing amount of air to work correctly, like their name, high volume/low pressure. They will work with less volume but you will get lots of orange peel. I have been spraying cars as a hobby for over 40 years so maybe I can answer some spraying questions. I don't have formal (school) training but the school of hard knocks is good training and I think I do a pretty good job.

great!
I just picked up an hvlp gun.
I will be asking a few questions about it soon.....Smile
Also, from what we have seen here, spraying rusto and or interlux "especially the interlux" self levels better then auto paint as it takes a little longer to dry.

Thats good to hear about the self leveling. All my experience is with auto paint but I won't be able to spray where I am moving to so I am learning about rolling.
If you never sprayed before, a bit of practice might be called for tho. Also, as I am learning here, Maybe a dry roller in the back pocket to touch up that run might be good insurance. Yes, you will get them. I know because I still do but I gently dabbed them with a rag and that worked good also.
Good luck

I used a husky gun from home depot. Took a little fine tuning but it turned out really nice.
