resin

Post by megaglow_z on June 4th 2008, 1:17 am

I need a clear alternative to fiberglass resin.
I'm going to be painting my front bumper and i need to pour some "lenses" into the openings and sand smooth with the bumper.

What i want to do is, make up some custom led turn buckets that i can access from the rear of the bumper. I will attach them to the bumper, Then install a clear plastic bubble over the led cluster and seal, then fill with resin till flush. sand and smooth.
Then mask off the lens area, paint bumper black, then mask the bumper and tint the lens area with hobby tint so you cant see them till there on.
Needs to cure hard and clear......any ideas??

You might want to look at the casting resin you find in hobby shops. The kind that they put bugs and pot leaves in for jewlery and displays. I don't know what it is made of tho. It is clear so I dont know how it would stand up to the elements outside on your car. Just a suggestion.
