which paint

Post by Mtn Man on January 24th 2009, 1:21 pm

I am making plans and getting ready to paint my daily driver beater with rustoleum.
She is medium blue right now. There is a reasonable amount of body work to do, which I will be starting soon.
I am going to be painting her grey. I am trying to decide which is the best paint for her. The rustoleum professional grey or the rustoleum stops rust in grey. What is everyone using ??
Also I plan on thinning it with acetone for a faster flash.
Has anyone used a hardener on there rustoleum jobs and if so what kind ???
I am going to spray also. Also one more question since I have never sprayed a car with rustoleum before will the grey cover or does she need primed first ? I am looking at the darker greys if that helps

The pro grey is suppose to give a better/easier finish, they are the same except for that.
I know you can use hardener, but i have not personally.

Primer is an option here, it will enable you to use less coats, but then again, a few extra coats are never a bad idea..lol

You will want to test spray your mix on something before you shoot it, to be sure you don't have it to thin and get runs easley.
