3M makes some good stuff as do several others. It usually comes in three grades and the smoothness of your final sand determines which grade you start with. They are coarse, medium and fine. They all have directions on them explaining all this and how to use them. Most of these systems are ment to be used with a buffer tho but you can do it by hand. If you thought sanding by hand was a job, wait untill you hand buff LOL. The next words out of your mouth will probably be "please pass the buffer, NOW". You can get everything you need at your local auto parts store. Good luck.

I don't know. I am not up to speed on the latest high teck stuff but that looks like the final stuff you use after the buffing to get rid of the holograms and give it the final clarity. Buffing is what takes away the sanding marks and as stated above there are usually 3 grades from heavy to fine cut. as you progress you see more and more shine. However, even that compound will leave marks because it does have a very fine grit in it. This will leave what is called holograms or very fine circle type spider web type marks that can only be seen at certain angles in certain light. 95% of the time they cant be seen but that is what the polish takes care of. Again, read the label. It will tell you what it does and what you use it for. Hope this answers your question.
