New owner of a 2001 Sonoma

Post by longdx on May 1st 2009, 5:54 pm

I have been an unregistered lurker here for a while and have been really impressed with the quality of work on many projects. I currently have as a DD a 2001 GMC Sonoma extended cab in black. Overall the paint is in good shape ( I detail cars and was able to remove about 80% of the defects). However, I noticed some paint checking on the hood/roof (the very beginning of CC failure) so I lowered my expectations for a thorough correction of those panels and focused on paint protection in the meantime. I plan on using the roller method on the hood/roof/front bumper of the vehicle. The front bumber has a gash on the passenger side from where the original owner ( an older man who sold the truck because just wasn't using it anymore). I plan on finding a replacement and using that as a testbed for the rolled technique. As an aside the chain Boater's World is sadly going out of business, but on the plus side Interlux paints should be discounted. I will be exploring that option.
