Sandable Rustoleum Auto Primer

Post by T-Bucket Bob 23 on May 23rd 2009, 10:20 pm

Would Sandable Rustoleum Auto Primer be good to use has a primer? What is good surface prep on metal and fiberglass before using primer?

I personally just use Wal-Mart brand cheapo .97 spray grey primer. I have had great luck with it as long as I do a final light sand prior to paint.

What MR2Miach works for me also. Just watch what you get. There are two kinds of primer, regular sandable and non-sandable which is also used as a sealer. Water will pass through regular but not the non-sandable so use it as a top coat if it will be a while before you put the final color on it. You can sand it but then you loose the sealer part because the surface is broken. It dosen't sand very well either (I know that for a fact)LOL
