Old farts club??

Post by RoboGeek on July 1st 2009, 4:32 pm

Its funny - I would have thought this would be something mostly younger people would be doing. But it seems many people are in their 30-40's!
Judging by how some of the 'kids' I've talked to think, they require fancy graphics to be impressed, where us older folks just seem to want a nice paint job

Just thinking out loud.. carry on!!

That is true to some extent. Most of us (I'm 65) older farts realize the value of money Laughing but I still like "fancy" also and it can be done with rollers. All it takes is some imagination with masking.
A lot of the tricks that the faux interior house painters will work here also. I marbled some stripes on a car once. came out pretty nice. Of course I used auto paint for that but the idea is the same.

and you can airbrush designs on too. You can really make about any color you want.

I think I'm going to look for a rust free car with bad paint for my next project. Or more like truck. S-10 or Ranger step side from the 80's

My arms are never going to stop being sore.. lol

Yep, old farts realize that new and shiny don't have to be expensive! Plus, we aren't part of the "I want it NOW!" generation.

too many F&F reruns.. lol

I will admit my car was going to be used for a rwd/v8 conversion since its so hard to find a cherry vega. And a 2nd gen cavy looks just about like one...

saw that darn movie and realized the same engines we ran in midgets were the pontiac version of the cav... 320 hp on alky!

That got me thinking, and it also got me into the Hornet class racing. Thats stuff is all over on JBO, but needless to say, a 4 banger is lots of fun because when you make power, it shocks people!

The rarity is finding old guys into the tuner stuff. Combine that and it gets interesting!

its easy to get a v8 to pump out 500+ horses...

its more fun to do it in a 4 banger Razz

yeah im sure F&F got a lot of people into the tuner sceen if i wanted a real tuner though i would get a skyline or a supra, thats if i was going for speed, i more or less just love the looks of tuners

of course i want my car with the 2.2 eco and a turbo with a hks blow off valve so when that *** hole in the crx pulls next to me revin his engine i can put him in his place
