Question on technique

Post by tbirdsps on December 9th 2009, 2:38 pm

Just wondering, it's obvious that during the process of two layers then sand and repeat that orange peel is common. What if orange peel wasn't sanded away until coat 8? Would the orange peel get progressively worse or would waiting for the final sanding to eliminate it save a whole bunch of work?

I'm not saying don't sand but just lightly sand the ridges out between dual coats instead of sanding out the orange peel every time.

The orange peel will get worse with each passing coat. You can wait and do it when ever you want but it will actually be less work to do it every other coat then wait untill the last coat. Knocking the tops off the orange peel will help tho............. You get out of this what you put into it and sweat equity is the trade off for $$$. Just my cents .
