New member painting motorcycle

Post by Theo on January 31st 2010, 11:11 pm

Hello to all. It's nice to see a forum dedicated to this. I remember the original mopar thread. I'm rebuilding an old suzuki motorcycle and am thinking about painting the frame and the gas tank with brightside. I don't know if I should post my questions in another section but I'm wondering if the paint will be strong enough for the frame. I've only seen everybody painting the bodywork so I just didn't know. I tried doing searches on this forum but didn't get any hits. Also does brightside impervious to gas and oil? I imagine since it's a urethane that it is. Thanks and good job on an awesome forum.

Hi Theo and welcome to the forum.

I believe the paint would be no problem on the frame. I can't speak for Brightside for durability but the Rusto is formulated for that kind of application. As for gas and oil, same thing, I have had no problem with the Rusto and I assume Brightside is the same. So how is that for an answer that doesn't really help. haha

Thanks for the help. Honestly from all the research I've been doing on painting vehicles, it seems the only thing that people agree on is prep work. After that it's all a matter of personal preference. So what I'm trying to say is that I'm still really confused and not sure which route I will take, but am leaning towards brightside. Thanks.

I haven't used it either but I would thing it would work. Get a small can and paint something and then dribble gas on it as if you spilled some and see how it holds up.
