Using LGM to clean my carpet

Post by stang_krazy on March 5th 2010, 8:47 am

Couple before pics. Pretty nasty!

This is the carpet out of my ranger truck that I have had to completely tear everything but the dash out to clean and fix, bought the truck cheap so I can't complain to much.
I haven't heard to much about the little green machine #1425 pro heat much lately so I thought I would show the before and after using this great little carpet extractor.

After I removed the carpet from my truck I then layed it over some saw horses and pressure wash and then soak down with purple power mixed 50/50 with water and scrub with a carpet brush and then pressure rinsed off/out all remaining purple power degreaser and then used an air hose to blow all the remaining water out of the carpet.

Next used the little green machine with the pet stain and odor formula and went over the whole carpet real good and slow to make sure everthing would come out as good as new I hoped.

Had to presoak all the areas that had the oil stains and who knows what else?and scrubed them also with a carpet brush.
I think I went over the carpet twice to make sure it would turn out as good as I could get it.
As you can see in the following pictures it came out pretty good.

I think I had about 3 hours in start to finish just in the carpet cleaning.Taking the carpet out is a whole other post! LOL

Sorry I didn't take any during pictures, but as you can see the carpet turned out great.

wow looks great.....it's amazing how people can trash a carpet or a vehicle for that matter. I think we have one of those machines at home, I'll have to look and see who the manufacture is.
Here in NY they dump salt on the roads to melt the snow and ice and once that salt gets into your carpet it eats it up let alone your floor boards also. ...gotta love NY sick

Yeah I know what you mean about the salt in the carpet.

Going to have to do my wife carpet in her car, never cleaned it when we bought it. Had 3 or 4 bad spots/stains and some gum in it so will be doing it this spring/summer. Will do another write-up to show the out come with the LGM with out using a pressure washer, I know some may want to know how it does by itself.

Thanks for the write up. It is amazing what some people WON'T do to keep their car looking nice but I guess "different strokes for different folks".

btw.. Rustoleum has carpet/upholstery paint too - you can make it look like new and even change the color!

Gonna do mine as soon as it warms up

Robo, won't that make the carpet fibers all stiff and stuck together in clumps or is it more like a spray dye? I would test it on something else other than my car first.

I haven't used the rustoleum stuff yet, but I did it with other brands many times. On carpet its fine. I used the fabric dye stuff on cloth seats and that worked fine

I'll try it out and let y'all know

I have recolored carpet using a spray in my 1968 Mustang Convertible about 5 years ago and it worked well. I think it was an SEM product.

If it was SEM then it was a dye

I have used the spray die and it worked great. I think it was made by duplicolor.

What a mess. I think Stanley Steamer is good for this.

What a huge difference. I've always either replaced the carpet completely or just used a carpet cleaner to clean all visible areas with it still installed.

Good job saving that carpet. Ready to install. I use purple power all the time...love that stuff.
