Fender Stripes - Post Paint?

Post by Zaose on June 1st 2010, 12:04 pm

Hey all,

I'm considering doing some small fender racing stripes. I'm already on my sixth coat, and figured after I'm done with the main body color, I could tape off two small stripes and cover the car and use Rustoleum Gloss Black in a can spray to lay it down.

Is there a problem with this plan, or will that work ok? Anyone do stripes after the main color was done?

Thanks in advance.

I have done it on the hood and tailgate with no issues, but I rolled them on.

I don't see any problem with your plan. Paint is paint is paint. As long as they are the same kind it dosen't matter how they get applied.

Great, thanks guys!

How long should I wait between my last base coat before being able to put tape on it?

I'd give it at least a day or two. I have never put tape over new rusto so don't quote me here but I do know you can tape regular auto acrylic enamel the next day and rusto is a lot like that.
