O.K so it's better to run quick small beads than one continuous bead? trying to figure this out before I weld on my rocker patch panels on my blazer. I suck at welding!

yes, spot bead it. spread your beads out so all of your heat isn't in one spot. This will keep the panel from warping. Are you using .023 solid wire with gas? Flux core wire is too hot and you will burn holes really quick.

Flux core 3200 Lincoln I know! but it is all I have to work with. It has to be better than pop-rivets.

if you have to use flu core then I would over lap your panels and not try to butt weld them together. Use .030 wire and turn your heat to the lowest setting. It can be done, but it's not easy.

Cool that's exactly what I am doing. I had the local sheet metal shop cut and bend them to go over the top of the old part. I was just going to grind the rot out and paint it then weld the new sheet metal over it. Thanks for the info! I will be making another thread on the truck as soon as the weather breaks a little bit more.
