1951 plymouth new project.

Post by glendale on September 26th 2010, 8:08 pm

hey i just did the dash for my car so i thought i would start a thread. my car is a 51 plymouth hardtop chopped four inches the back glass is from a 50 desoto.it has all new wiring a 350/350 dana 30 rear disk brakes up front. i have not driven more than a hundred miles in the four years i have had it because i dont want people to call it a rat rod. i want a nice finished custom. then i found this forum and said oh hell give it a shot. i'll start with a couple of pics of the car and then what i did today. Very Happy

it for sure needs a cut and then some more coats and then cut and buff. but i dig it.

let me know what you think?

Very cool project!

I think red + blue is more likely to give you burgundy.

I love it. Chopped top leadsled. It don't get any better than that.
I had a 50 merc I went crazy on and had everything but a chopped top. I did that in 1972. I even rolled and pleated it my self. Nice 5ft car. Pale, pale blue with traditional flames and flipper hubcaps. Tahitian red was the hot color back in that era, '53 buick color as I remember. Anyway, I will be watching this this one.
Do you have pix of the interior and rearend and all your neat custom touches? DO NOT BE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. Thats what they are made for so do it. thumbs up

That ride is beyond badass!
try adding some blue to the color mix. red and black alone yield either a darker red or a pottery brown if the red is not a primary red.
