1967 Camaro- White Interlux Brightside

Post by rustycarr on November 25th 2010, 11:49 am

Heres a few photos of my camaro, ive rolled a few cars before and always used Rustoleum, this time i decided to use interlux. It does level better than Rustoleum, and i rolled it strait out of the can. With Rustoleum i had pretty good results also but i always used Penetrol with it. anyhow here are some pics BEFORE

FIRST COAT

ANOTHER ANGLE

WILL POST MORE AS I GO.

Whoa! Is that a column-shift car?

Sweet ride! I don't mind column-shift and a bench seat in those 1st gen Camaros.

Column shift is not so cool in a 2nd gen though, especially with bucket seats.

I had a '68 Cougar, but I was younger and dumber, and took it to maaco. They somehow killed my almost-new battery! wtf I used an awful lot of bondo making that car appear whole again.
This pic is from 10 years after that paint-job. The car was never garaged in that 10 years. The car was a little scabbier than the pic shows, thanks to my cheap camera, but would have been a lot easier to prep for paint than it was when I did it...

I sold it last winter because my driveway is too full... Rolling Eyes And having found this sight and method makes me want it back. It would be much easier to make pretty under the hood, than what I'm working with now...
My favorite color scheme for those cars is gold with a black top.

Nice project!

How is the Brightside working in the cold temps? I noticed some uneveness in mine when I had to roll a couple of coats in the cold, but I was also using their thinner and I think it was seperating before it had a chance to dry.

not to bad but im in texas so its not to bad, but im rolling it strait out of the can with no thinner. Ive had good results with a foam brush as well. I used a foam brush for the door jams and tail panel and it came out great! Interlux is really good stuff. It really isnt that much more expensive if you figure that you dont have to buy thinner or penetrol with interlux just paint.

Ok , slapped on the last coat, did some touch ups in cracks, hood, trunklid with brush. Next will be the z/28 stripes. need some hotter weather to dry this last coat sunny ill let it harden for a while, do a final wetsand and then on to the polishing phase..

tape removed, and rallies and caps back on. need to paint spoiler too and put bumpers back on..

stay tuned for stripes thumbs up waiting on the stencil to get here and warmer weather...

White + black will look really sharp!

I thought about that myself since the white by itself is a little generic looking.

funny, i thought the same thing about my cougar. i painted it white first and then went to the satin black. i knew going into painting the camaro i would have stripes to contrast the refrigirator look.

UPDATE>

Post by rustycarr on December 3rd 2010, 3:32 pm

Ok , got my stencil kit in froms Ricks Camaro, cool kit has about 8 pages of instructions along with pictures and measurments. I also sold some parts to help pay for the stencil kit, black paint (I used Rustoleum Industrial Spray) and also some masking paper. It went pretty well until my spoiler blew off the stand and hit the ground and scuffed it up smash I had to re spray and let it dry, but no biggee since i had 2 hrs of masking and striping to do.. anyways let get to the pics..
the stencil kit is white and you cant see it in the pics

the black went on pretty well,no runs, but the weather here is spotty so ill let this paint dry real good before i unwrap it. santa
