Hello from Eugene, Oregon!

Post by loneagle on December 24th 2010, 8:20 pm

Hi, This is John from Eugene, Oregon. I have been hot rodding and working on old cars since the 1970s. I've done quite a few paint jobs but never with a roller. I have a couple of cowl hoods I need to paint in semi gloss black. I'm interested in seeing how well I can do. Hopefully, mine will come out nice like a lot of the jobs on this forum.

Here are some pics of the Malibu I'm working on. The car was originally painted by Maaco about 10 years ago. The paint is starting to fade and body has some dings, it also has a few rusted areas that I need to deal with. Should be as easy fix as most of the other stuff has already been done.

I'm thinking about going with Rustoleum sail blue. Do you think this would be a good choice?

Welcome John,
Nice looking car. Is the 4 speed factory? That must be rare if it is. That shade of blue will look good on your car.

Thank you. My car originally had a 3 speed manual with a 229 V-6. I swapped in the 350 and a super t-10 4 speed. It's really a fun car to drive. Here's how it sounds with the new exhaust system.
