Penetrol and Hardener?

Post by StryfeS13 on January 28th 2011, 6:41 pm

What do you guys think?

2 parts Rustoleum Black
1 part Penetrol
1/2 part Mineral Spirits
Can of Valspar Enamel Hardener for oil-based paints

It improves shine, quickens drying time, and enhances gloss.

Maybe we can reduce the drying time in between coats from 6-8 hours to only 1 hour, or less. Then we could lay on all 8 - 10 coats in less than 2 days...

You might try a search about this. I don't know but you do need time for the paint to level out after it is rolled on and the hardner might not give it enough time. Everybody is different tho. give it a try and report back.

I use enamel with the correct ratio of hardener. I go up to about 50 percent penetrol. Somtimes you need to add a little penetrol as you go because the paint thickens a bit. Give it a try, It seems to work well for me!
