best way to stop water in air line

Post by 78StangII on February 6th 2011, 4:41 pm

Okay, I was out today getting my shop ready to paint the Mustang. One of the things I needed to was to move my water/oil separator further a way from my tank. I also ran my air line up at an angle and down at the other end. The angle I have is to let the condensed vapor/water run back into the tank.

Well, I ran the pressure up but I'm still getting a little water out the other end, though not as bad as before I done this. I was planning on buying a in-line filter to go on the spray gun. Is there anything else I can do to minimize water build up in my air lines? Thank - Kevin

Did you put a drip leg on the end of your line and have the spray gun line put on a tee at least 12inches above the drip leg? I have run air lines in commercial buildings and that is the way they do it there. Also you need to put a drain valve at the end of the drip leg and drain both it and the compressor before you start. I would put the filter (good idea) at the tee where the line for the gun comes off the drop.

I've been sitting here think about that. I'll go ahead and add a drip leg in line. Thanks
