Rustoleum mixes paints. (pics of colors)

Post by GovBrown on February 21st 2011, 6:37 pm

I went by my local Menard's today to get some paint stripper for some trim in my house and came by this.

I wish I would have known before I went black. There's always next time.

not sure why this thread didn't get nailed to the top since the biggest complaint seems to be lack of colors, but check this out:

http://www.doitbest.com/Gloss+enamel-Rust+Oleum-model-251555-doitbest-sku-795080.dib

after calling Rustoleum (who didn't even know they had this stuff) they indicated this was a program they put in place for some places around the country (Home Depot and Menards mostly) but never became popular. They can still order the stuff though. something to think about Smile

They never offered it at My Home Dumpster. Would of been nice to know that you could get other colors.

I had my local Lowes Home Improvement store mix up some Valspar Armor Anti Rust paint to match my MGB to paint the engine bay. Thinned it and brushed it on. It took a while to dry, but looks good. They have cans of the base paint on the shelf and I would image could mix most any color.

I would imagine that it has a lot of the same qualities as the Rustoleum.

With all the planning that goes into a car painting project, no sense settling for less than the color you really want. Might as well go to your local HD/Lowes/whatever and make an order for the stuff that does the job best!

Keep in mind, the tints and colors they mix in might NOT be of the same base stock. Make sure the base color you choose and any tints added are both oil-based enamels.
