Ready to do the budget paint job!

Post by GreenMachine on February 24th 2011, 7:40 pm

Hey everybody. This weekend I'm going to get started on my old Chrysler project. I'm thinking I want to do it in a purple similar to Plum Crazy Purple, so what would be my best bet as far as an enamel paint. I'm thinking I've seen a purple rustoleum, but I don't know if it just comes in the spray cans. I hear Ace provides some good enamel paint though. I also going to be doing an El Camino and have thought about either doing it in something like Hugger Orange or Sublime Green, so what are my options as far as those colors? I plan on spraying since my family has a pretty good air compressor and spray gun.

Hi and welcome to the group. Being a MOPAR guy myself, I don't know of a color that Rustoleum has that would be close to Plum Crazy. Plum Crazy is a unique color that IMOP needs to be metallic. You can not add metallic flakes to these paints. Ace might be able to mix a color close to it. I don't know of anyone on here that has used Ace hardware paint and in my research on the web I couldn't find anyone that has. If you go with the Ace paint please let me know how it turns out.
What Chrysler do you have that you are working on?

I saw a post on here of a guy who used Ace paint for a Geo Storm.

I've got a 1976 Cordoba. It was the sister car to the Charger, and in 79 had a 300 version.

No, the Duster wasn't. The Mustang is currently being shot with Rusto. I'm spraying the Mustang instead of rolling it.
