I've had this one for about 14 years? Round bodies are not easy to find sheet metal for.

Yes,I agree, seems like some of these companies would try to reproduce more sheet metal for all the falcons, but i would venture to guess the old tooling is long gone on most sheet metal parts for the falcon's . To bad for us falcon guy's I guess!!

Anyone with a lead on fenders for a 61'..?
I found a couple of 63' fenders in good shape and was going to butcher them for patches but felt guilty. lol I was going to use them but I would have to add a all the 63' front end to make it work.

How bad are your 61 fenders rusted? and is the rust at the bottom or around the headlight?

lol. I'm guessing there is about 60% left?

I started to weld in new metal. These are far from done.

I think he is the guy that sells on eBay.
Nothing at the swap today, the only falcon parts that I saw was a 63 tail light assembly. Sorry, I still have a buddy thats in the local Falcon club, I'll see if he can come up with something.

No problem. I might order a set from him and get rid of a lot of my troubles. It's too hard trying to form fenders with nothing to work with. I'm going to play with the fenders and see what I can do.

You could just do 'em with bondo, in order to be able to proceed with the rest of the car, and then just keep your eyes open for some good fenders to paint and swap on. Unless maybe, if your paint mix isn't going to be a simple recipe, and easy to match.

From the look's of your repair's,a skim coat of bondo may be all you need, much more than that you will have problem's with cracking, I try not to put more than 3/16 to 1/4 inch on anything I do.

Quarter

Post by dean_af on July 5th 2011, 9:02 pm

It's hard to show how bad the fitment is in a pic. From under the door handle down about 8 inches there is little shape. I cut the seam and reshaped from the top of the patch panel down about a foot.

Welding top in.

Primed to stop rust. I need a bit more welding and a lot more hammering to go. Should require very little bondo.
