Hello from Edmonton

New guy here, looking for tips and getting ready to tackle a cheap paintjob!

Not ready to put money into professional paint at this time, so I figure what the heck. If i try this and it fails, then I still need to get a paint job. Can't hurt to try, right?

Here's the project.

1993 Volkswagen Passat wagon
-VR6 with manual transmission
-Kinetic Motorsport Stage 1 turbo
-full custom Borla exhaust
-VW Mk5 R32 oilpan/pump upgrade
-Porsche D90 wheels
-Raceland coilovers

Paint is really clean, especially when you consider that it's an 18 year old metallic black! However, there are a few rust patches starting to bubble through. And matching dark metallics to my satisfaction just won't happen.

Pics were taken last summer, before the suspension was touched. At the time it had some FK coils with Bilsteins.

And yeah, this is before I really lowered it! I've since had to roll the fenders, now everything is sitting just right.

I'm in the middle of rust repair now, once that's done, it's painting time!
