2000 subaru impreza

Post by ShadyOne13 on July 31st 2011, 4:44 am

Sooo I picked up a rusting badly subie AWD for this winter. I planned on just driving the wheels off but I really like the car..So I have started preparing it for paint. I have pretty much gotten done with the body work not although these pics do not show it. This is how I got it. I will be painting it a sky blue I mixed out of royal blue and white. And it will have a black cuda stripe painted front to rear on the sides : )

Thats a pretty color. I hope you mixed all you need and then some for touchups at one time because odds are you will never be able to match it again unless you weighed each anount and wrote it down.

Quick question, when you mixed your paint, did you start with the white and go darker or start dark and then add the white. Enquiring minds would like to know.

Probably just personal pref. But I like to start light and work it to the darker color. I started with white added royal blue, this color for anyone who wants to now is a quart of each 50/50. Then I thinned once it was mixed.

I have noticed that the blue tries to separate some when it sets for any amount of time so I have to be sure to mix it well every time I use some. For now though I am working out of a one gallon milk jug. I figure I will put whatever I have left in a can for long term storage.

You know what they say "a project is never done"and also"money talks". Now you have money for another "project and some good experience so you can avoid the mistakes you made on this one.
Mike

That was a purdy color tho.
