Noob, gonna roll my volvo c70

Post by RolledC70 on September 18th 2011, 4:48 pm

Hello all. Im preparing to roll my volvo c70 after moving from the beach in Florida to the hills of Tennessee.
The clear coat and paint are pretty damaged and while researching paint jobs I ran across people rolling paint. As an avid diy'er I begun my own rolling quest.

I do have a few questions, the biggest one that I havent seen answered well is..... Can you roll on automotive paint?? Sprayable automotive paint??

Yes....as long as it's single stage urethane or enamel. The trick is getting it to flow. Metalics just don't work. The main reason most guys use Rusto is the cost. We are all about low bux here... Very Happy If you're worried about UV protection then use Rusto Topside.
The down fall of any of the Rusto paints is the lack of color choices.
Hope this helps & welcome to Rolled On.

Wow, thanks for all the warm welcomes and quick responses. I wasnt expecting this forum to be so active. Its great!

The reason I am thinking of rolling automotive paint, is because the color that is on the car now is a pretty nice shade of blue. Its volvo 417, which is a nautical blue. It looks almost pearled.

Another option I was considering is "Blue water marine paint mega gloss gold" Royal blue color. (I cant post a link yet im such a noob)
The blue looks like a similar color, and its suppose to roll on easy and give a high gloss mirror finish. It is a bit pricey though, but cheaper than what the volvo paint would cost me.

My other question is about clear coats, can they be rolled?

This is the damage that the paint took after surviving more than a decades worth of hurricanes, salt, and uv damage.
