My Roadster project....

Post by mike3137 on September 27th 2011, 11:29 pm

Here's a pic of my roadster project, already posted in the new guy section. for those that are curious, it is an original steel bodied 1931 Ford Roadster on a 1932 chassis I built from the rails up in my garage. It's an old school traditional hotrod with a 1962 Corvette 327, Comp Cam, muncie 4 speed trans, 9 inch ford rear. etc...It's taken many hours of building to get it this far, but considering that I brought it home in the back of my truck in pieces its come a long way. I figured it would be a while before I could get a proper paint job on it, so decided to paint it with rustoleum black, and I was suprised how well the rustoleum laid down. I plan to add a few more coats this winter, then cut and buff it again..[img][/img]

Thanks, I spray bombed it, using the Rustoleum cans with the odd shaped spray top. They produce a nice fan pattern similar to a spray gun, and the paint really laid down smooth. I had one or two coats of the green self etching primer over the bare steel, then maybe two coats of black...I may go ahead with a clear coat over the base paint this winter...

added some build pics in the new member section.....

Love the Duval style two piece windshield also. 30-31 is my favorite in the model A line. I WILL be watching this one.
