painting a frame?

Post by russosborne on January 11th 2012, 10:49 pm

Thanks to a very nice fellow Pontiac Lemans owner I have a pretty good air compressor to use to blast my frame. wow

I had thought about using POR-15 or the Eastwood stuff, but frankly I can't afford that kind of price. So my plan b has always been to use Rustoleum. I think it will really be better anyway, since it is much easier to touch up than that other stuff.

I could spray it, I have a cheap spray gun set. But I would really prefer to use a roller and/or a brush due to overspray, cleanup, all the usual mess. And the minor fact that I have never sprayed with a big gun like that. Model cars, no problem. Laughing

Living in the land of rust (Ohio) I was wondering if anyone else has done this, what paint did you use(thinking of the bare metal paint as a primer and then a top coat(would regular primer be better?). Looks are not the most important thing, but I would try not to have any runs or orange peel. Not going to be a show car, just a driver, but I want it to last.

Thanks,
Russ
