Swedes in the USA with an American Classic

Post by Pierrel on January 29th 2012, 12:36 am

Hi!

I've been watching these forums for a couple of weeks now (ever since we got ourselves our little project). I must say I'm really impressed what you guys achieve with a foam roller and some elbow grease! There are plenty of success stories I've read, and have gotten inspired from.

Like the title said I myself and my GF is from Sweden and moved to San Diego, CA to study. During our time here we found ourselves a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7. The car is in generally good condition, but needs some rust removal and a new paint.

Since we are students we don't want to shell out a lot of money on a paint job. It's much more fun to be able to enjoy your car, than have it sitting in the parking lot with a 2k paint job on it Razz
The project itself won't get finished over night, but we plan to keep this car for a long time and do a proper restoration of it when we have the time and opportunity.

We just got ourselves some equipment to start our paint prep. Since we moved here last August, we start from scratch.

We are discussing colors and what paint to use. We want a dark blue color, but the rusto topside blue doesn't seem to be blue enough. We have been looking into some other options, but would really appreciate some input!

Thanks, and you'll se a project thread soon i hope!

Thank you guys, I'm going to have plenty of questions for you to answer, don't worry Wink

That 1969 Cougar is a inspiration, as well as your car's 63Falcon and rmdhookie. Your cars look stunning after the work you've put into them!

I was a bit sceptic about the whole idea of rolling a car. But after reading on Moparts and many project threads here I'm convinced Smile
