Roll it on ...thin!

Post by 81Merc300D on February 5th 2012, 10:30 pm

I realise that this has been discussed and mentioned many many times on this forum but I just wanted to share my experiences to help others.

I have been experimenting a lot before starting my project and I am finally getting some good results, mostly by applying each layer very thin. When I started, I would load up the roller and apply every coat very heavily, this only gave me lots of orange peel and a disappointing wet sand look.

After taking advice from many of the posters on this forum I now roll out my roller on the tray so a lot of the excess paint is left behind, roll on a very thin layer and avoid the temptation to double up on that process. I am getting layers that are flatter and much easier to sand.

Again this is nothing new around here, thought I would just reinforce it for people starting out Smile
