New from Texas!!!

Post by Qwik96 on February 26th 2012, 10:18 pm

Hi y'all, lol. Naw seriously though, new guy from Texas here... I have been researching via Google & YouTube & Internet articles on the $50 Rustoleum paint job & I am more than impressed with the jobs I've seen! My wife's new 2012 Honda doesn't have the shine that a lot of these paint jobs have! Anyways, I have a 1996 Mustang GT Convertible that I am about to pick up from the body shop & paint it myself! It has a near perfect body on it now! The color of it now is Pacific Green & I'm going Gloss Black with it! With the tan top it should look killer especially since I just got a set of 18" Cobra R wheels & tires for it, Woo Hoo, lol! Well I'm glad to have joined here & I hope to be adding project pics up very soon! Thanks in advance, Frank!

Yeah I'm actually trying to decide between the Sail Blue or Gloss black, but my mind is leaning towards the black, lol

Thanks man! I love my Stang! It should turn out well, but I have a few minor questions if anyone feels like answering me...
1). When I sand my original paint to prep for spraying it black do I wet sand it or dry sand it & what grit should I use?
2). Do I need to wet sand after every 2 coats I spray on or just after my final coat?
3). Once I do spray my final coat how long do I need to wait before I wet sand & polish/buff it with the Meguire's Ultimate Compound then add a nice coat of wax?
4). Will a gravity fed paint sprayer kit from Walmart or Lowe's be sufficient enough for the spray job?

These are really my only questions I have & I may have over read & not saw it, but that's it!
