So how long do I need to wait to use some polishing compound to get the minor imperfections (bugs) & orange peel out? I put down 5 good coats of paint & the last coat is where the orange peel came out!

I believe the hardener caused the orange peel cuz after practicing on another panel without the hardener & same prep work there were no imperfections. Once I sprayed over that using hardener it orange peeled & looked crappy! So I decided to use the hardener on my car & I believe it's the culprit! Oh well, I'll break out the 2000 grit paper & a buffer with some Meguire's ultimate compound here in 3-5 days after she's good & dry!!!

Final coat... Looks good from a distance (10 feet)...

Any suggestions on what or how to polish the car well after it dries would be much appreciated! Thanks, Frank

The camel color top will still look good against the black. That's a good color combination.

Start out by wetsanding the whole car with 1000 grit, move to 1500 then 2000, I would suggest meguiar's 105 as your compound and meg's 205 to finish it up then apply a good coat of meg's ultimate wax for really good protection and gloss retention. Hope this help's , look's really good in the pic's so far!!!!! thumbs up

Yeah I've got 5 good coats on it, but I have a auto body buddy that's gonna help me buff it out in about 3-5 days after its good & dried! He uses the same stuff Jay Leno uses...

Yeah I had a lot of orange peel! I got it almost all out except a few minor spots that I'll hit tomorrow. I already hit it with ultimate compound & a buffer, but not the buffer I needed to use...Sad anyways, I'll hit those few spots tomorrow & put a nice polish on it afterwards!

Looks good! I'd probably get a set of "Bullitt" wheels (the ones which look like the classic American Racing wheels) for it.

Yeah I saw some Bullit wheels in black with the polished/chrome lip or the Cobra R wheels (chrome)... Either one would pop on this car!

I just borrowed a "correct" buffer/polisher w/a variable rpm/speed control so I can really do the job I need to do then it'll be good to go, lol

Yeah the problem is I'm very low on funds, lol. I can get the Cobra R replicas online for about $80 a piece! I I find some black/chrome bullits then I'll pick those up...
